Let’s Cook Together!
Identical twin chefs Pam and Wendy Drew moved from Durban, South Africa to start a small restaurant in the financial district of San Francisco serving lunch and takeout. In fact, Amawele’s is the zulu word meaning “The Twins.” After years of success running the restaurant, Pam and Wendy transitioned their business to a catering service and have recently launched an alcoholic brand “Red Pearl Spirits”. Red Pearl - Rooibos Vodka Refreshers, an alcoholic ready to drink sparkling ice tea beverage made with an indigenous South African tea leaf called Rooibos.
Pamela and Wendy are the only chefs in the Bay Area to produce authentic South African cuisine. Their food can be described as a melting pot of influences from various cultures such as English, Dutch, Indian, Native African, French, Portuguese and Malaysian.
