Community Dinner: Indian Chicken Curry and Rice with Shef Anu (Pick Up Only)
A one-plate dinner packed to go. This is not a cooking class. See our registration policies here and our rules for in-person events here.
For our March edition of Community Dinner, we are pleased to welcome a new partner to our kitchen: Shef! Shef is a marketplace for local, homemade food that connects talented cooks with customers in their communities. Shef Anu Sharma will be sharing a dish from her repertoire: chicken curry with basmati rice. The inspiration to cook this dish came from Anu's mom who frequently cooked Chicken Curry when Anu was young. Anu remembers the aroma of this comforting dish filling the house. Anu's curry features spices like turmeric and cumin to make this dish delectable, enhanced by the tanginess of yogurt. With this Community Dinner, Anu is eager to share a part of her upbringing with us all, as well as to celebrate how flavorful and aromatic Indian food can be. Cooking with Shef became a lifeline for Anu's family during the pandemic, and we're proud to celebrate her work!
A ticket will enable you to pick up a to go box anytime between 6:30-8:30 pm by checking in at the front door; no vaccination proof is required for to go orders, though we ask that you mask up during the pick up process.

Anu Sharma is an North Indian chef. Her inspiration for cooking comes from her time in India, where she lived most of her life. She learned the grassroots of North Indian-based cooking during her time there, as well as from her lovely husband, Rajesh, who has been a professional chef for more than 40 years. He taught Anu irreplaceable techniques and values that she carries in all of her cooking. Being able to experience and stay connected to her Indian heritage, as well as to celebrate the deep passion for cooking and food within her family, has given Anu the ability to create new and inspirational dishes.
Today, Anu feels very proud to serve customers across the Bay Area through Shef. Shef has given people like her a chance to share their cultures with others in our communities. Anu says, "Shef is the perfect way for me to share my passion. It has also served as a lifeline to my family. My husband lost his job at the beginning of the pandemic. That’s where we got introduced to Shef, and it totally changed our lives." Find Anu's menus with Shef here.
